I decided to tackle a gallery wall as my next project. I'm doing black and white photos in black frames with white mats.
Michael's was having a buy one, get one free frame sale last week, so I bought my frames. I came home and started playing with the arrangement on the floor. Once I liked it, I traced butcher paper and taped the paper to the wall to "see" the arrangement.
(the orange and yellow flowers in the packaging will be black and white photos of our family)
(The lamp will be gone and the "H" will be there)
I started out with a structured look. I was thinking it would look less "cluttered."
Then my mom started playing with the side arrangements and I liked her looser look too. I added two canvas pictures too, which I will paint white with black scripture letters. Here is the arrangement on the floor.
I think I'm going with the second, less structured look shown in the three pictures right above, but what do you think? I need feedback! Ack!
I love that Bara!! I think the second set looks great but is there any way to add a little bit of color?
ReplyDeleteHi, K.T.! Thank you! I think it needs color too. I have these two chairs I love from Pottery Barn that are a pretty yellow, or I'd like to do rust/orange colored chairs. I might find some cute little wall decor pieces in the rust/orange too. The wall adjacent (next to the fireplace) is going to have a green plant hanging on the wall in a decorative sconce too. Hmmmm. I can't wait to see your new abode! You always have great style!
DeleteThat is going to look so great!! I like the first set, but that's just my preference. It will look fantastic, either arrangement you choose!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Erica! I am so thankful for another set of "eyes", because I'm starting to see gallery walls in my sleep! LOL.
Deletemy vote is for the less structured one!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thank you! That is the winner so far . . .
DeleteI vote less structured too. I also LOVE the idea of colored chairs or some colored decor pieces mixed in. I did a wall with sepia prints and brown frames over two years ago and now I already want new colored prints in the frames because the monotone is boring me.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha! Yes, I know. I tend to be too conservative with color. I WISH I had that ability to splash color and creativity all over the house. : )
