Bib Necklace Tutorial

Well, I had a lot of people want to know how to make the zipper rose clip I made yesterday.  I didn't take pictures or do a tutorial, but the same concept I am teaching today was applied to my zipper flower yesterday.  Because the zipper was stiff and harder to twist, the zipper flower ended up more like a rose--pretty!

Today is my friend Lisa's birthday.  I thought it would be fun to make a dainty bib necklace for her.  Lisa is a lot of fun and wears all kinds of different styles, so hopefully this will match something in her beautiful wardrobe.

First pick a fabric.  I chose white because I am dreaming of the spring and sunshine right around the corner.  Cut the fabric into strips.  I bought a quarter of fabric and just made 8 strips from it.

I fold the fabric "like a hot dog," as I used to say to my kids in my classroom.

Start scrunching the fabric and rolling it up.

Here is the beginning.  Notice how I am twisting my fabric as I am rolling it.  This is important for the overall effect.

Still rolling

Stop when you have about an inch of rabric left.  You are going to tuck that underneath and glue it flat on the bottom.

Like this. . . Isn't Micah sweet?  He is watching momma work and hoping he can sneak into a picture.
Voila!

I made 5 of these and liked the look for my necklace.

Glue the flowers down onto felt in the shape you desire.

Start cutting away the felt that is showing.

This is what the back looks like when it is all trimmed.

Here is the front--no felt showing.

Buy the color ribbon you desire and cut 2 strips at the length you like.

Here is how I glued my ribbon onto the back.

It is done!

Sorry, Lisa.  I tried it on, but you get to keep it.  Since you used ribbon that ties, the length will be adjustable depending on your outfit.

Have fun!  There are so many options here--you can add decorative baubles, rows to the bib, colors, textures, etc.

Happy birthday, Lisa!
